At Totland each child knows they have a place here, not just for themselves but for all of their needs. Each child has their own cubby and learns early where their personal belongings go. Each child has their own desk with their picture and name, and knows which spot is theirs when they are ready to create. Each child has a spot at the family table, and we all eat together. Each child also has their own indivdual bed, where rest and relaxation can occur. Having a personliazed environment is not something you will find in all homes or centers. It is very important for the child to feel safe and secure and know where they belong and that there is always a place for them not only in my heart, but at Totland.

Your child learns life lessons.

Your child will not only learn about all areas of curriculum, but about life. When you see a child ask for a napkin, not so they can give it to their friend but so they can clean their friends hands for them, you know your child is learning about relationships, compassion, and nuture. Here the children will ask each other if they're ok, and tell each other to be careful. They learn consideration and understand when others are sleeping, they should be quiet. They say goodnight to each other at nap time, and are so excited when their friend arrives in the morning. We bulid lasting reasltionships at Totland and there is so much more your child learns here. A early childhood environment is the foundation for a child's life, so please choose one with this in mind.

Totland grows with your child.

At Totland your child will reach many developmental milestones, and I will support those. You will see your child transition from a booster chair, to a child's stool, to a grown-up chair at our family table when the time is right. Your child will transition from a crib, to a converted crib, to a toddler bed. Your child will go from the infant swings outside to the big boy/girl swings. At Totland we allow the transition from one stage to another to occur smoothly and when your child is ready. Our environment changes not just by your child's age but by your child's interest. New items and materials are brought in for your children and new set-ups allow for better play, and happen by observation and taking note of what works best for the children and their current interest.
